Painting Within a Wet Space

Many customers ask if they can paint their shower room, bathroom, washroom, kitchen sink splashbacks, or even baths. Our official answer is: "due to the ultimate matt finish of the majority of our paints, we don't recommend its use in wet areas." However, so many customers desperately want to use our colours to brighten up these spaces, and many have done so, with great success!

If you choose to work outside our recommendation, we would unofficially recommend you use the exterior version of the paint and, if this is not available, add 20% AquaPlus to make the paint more hard-wearing. FYI, this would be the same advice for outdoor use. Note that AquaPlus can’t be used with the SuperScenic or PU ranges.

If you wanted to add more protection, such as a lacquer, don’t add the AquaPlus and instead overcoat with one of our lacquers.

Our PU and PUM Metallic range has a harder-wearing finish, and we would not recommend adding AquaPlus or overcoating, unless you require a gloss finish; in this case, overcoat with AquaLak Gloss.
