Painting with Fluorescent Paints
Always apply Base-coat White 1000 (interior); multiple coats may be required. It is imperative to have a uniform white base before applying two coats of any fluorescent paint—never apply more than two coats. Due to its translucent nature (required to achieve such bright, UV-reactive colours), Bristol fluorescent paint does not cover like conventional paints; therefore, a uniform base coat is essential. Please also note that due to this translucency, the finish is not easily touched up.
If you are using another manufacturer’s product (e.g., an undercoat or primer) with any Bristol products, we recommend testing a small section first before painting the entire area to ensure compatibility.
Always consult a professional or experienced decorator prior to use. It can be difficult for us to advise remotely on the multitude of surfaces and conditions you may encounter.
Bristol highly recommends using high-quality brushes and rollers. For applying fluorescent paint, we suggest Hamilton Perfection Pure Synthetic Brushes and Purdy medium pile 9” rollers, which are available from various suppliers online or in-store.
